Grow the Gateways (GTG)
Grow the Gateways is a strategic plan developed with the assistance of the County Planning Department for the Village of Monticello and the Town of Thompson to improve targeted corridors through economic development initiatives, zoning, improved design standards and collaboration. Design Guidelines
As recommended in the Grow the Gateway Project, The Town along with the Village of Monticello have adopted design guidelines for our commerce centers to enhance the Town’s visual appearance. This helpful guide outlines how businesses and other commercial properties can comply with the guidelines and ensure Thompson looks its best!
New Sign Code and Guide
With assistance from the Sullivan County Business-Friendly Zoning Program, the Town has adopted a new Sign Code (Local Law 2 of 2019) and design guide. This new code establishes standards for signs to help preserve and improve the Town’s appearance, and to promote public safety by regulating signs. View the Code and Guide.
Landscape Guidelines
The Town of Thompson has developed landscaping standards and design guidelines as a tool to reduce the environmental impacts of new development while creating areas that are visually appealing and inviting to the public. These guidelines are available in this helpful document.
