The Town of Thompson is seeking input from the public on the first draft of the Town’s updated comprehensive plan.  Also called a “master plan” the comprehensive plan is a document that provides direction on policy recommendations about future land use and development in the Town.

You can view the first draft of the Thompson Comprehensive Plan, here. Printed copies of the draft plan are available for viewing at Thompson Town Hall and the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello.

A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 7PM at the Town Hall at Thompson Square Mall in Monticello. Thompson’s planning consultant, Delaware Engineering, will give a brief overview of the draft plan, including the vision statement, goals and recommended actions that will guide policy decisions in Thompson over the next five to ten years.

Attendees will have an opportunity to share their feedback and make comments in person at the meeting, or in writing by e-mailing the Town Clerk at marilee@thompsonny.gov.  Written comments will be accepted until the close of business on September 30, 2025.

The draft plan may be updated to address comments received by the public, and a second public hearing on the final plan will be scheduled at a later date prior to adoption.
