Position Title: Thompson Deputy Court Clerk II

Pay: $57,323 Plus Benefits
The Town of Thompson is seeking applications to fill the position of Deputy Court Clerk to the Town of Thompson Justice Court. The Deputy Court Clerk works under the supervision of the Town Justices and the Town Supervisor. The Deputy Court Clerk will support the daily operations of a busy municipal court. Responsibilities include clerical and administrative support, case processing, recordkeeping, and interaction with the public, law enforcement, and court personnel. Applicants will be required to meet Office of Court Administration background check and credentialling requirements including fingerprinting.
Qualifications:
- Prior court or clerical experience preferred, but not required
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications, with the ability to learn new software systems quickly
- Capable of handling clerical and administrative duties with professionalism and confidentiality
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college education in a related field preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform general office duties, including answering phones, sending emails, filing, and assisting the public
- Maintain and update court records and files within the computer system
- Prepare and distribute written correspondence for judges, attorneys, and litigants, including court orders
- Create and manage calendars for scheduled court cases
- Ensure all submitted legal documents comply with applicable laws and court procedures
- Collect court fines, maintain financial records, and perform basic bookkeeping tasks
- Carry out additional administrative duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
- Evening hours are required, in addition to normal business hours, as Court also operates some evenings
