On April 17th, 2025, New York State awarded Thompson with $5.4 million in grants plus low- and no-cost financing. Here is a statement about the awards from Town Supervisor Bill Rieber:

“The grant-finance packages announced represent $3.2 million for pump stations and new mains for the Rock Hill/Emerald Green system. This is in addition to $10.7 million awarded late 2024 for improvements to the plant. Part of these projects is to change to ultraviolet disinfection which will ensure cleaner streams and lakes in Rock Hill and surrounds.

The $2.2 million for Sackett Lake is to upgrade the sewer mains and is sorely needed because the lines date back to the 1950s and have many leaks.
These funds will lessen the fiscal impact to taxpayers in these districts and are part of over $50 million in improvements to four sewer districts and one water district in Thompson. We are so pleased to be successful in this round. There were only three awards in Orange and Sullivan County, and we received two of them.”
